Why not start a small business?Nearly three-quarters (74%) of respondents to the Staples Canada national small business quarterly survey said their business had held steady in the past three months, up from 64% of respondents in the March survey. Thirty-nine per cent said business had improved compared with the previous quarter; 26% reported a decline.
Canadian small businesses are also showing increased confidence for the near future. Over two-thirds (70 per cent) expect at least some improvement to their business over the next six months (compared to 58 per cent in March 2009), and the number expecting a decline has dropped from 17 per cent to 6 per cent.

In short, Canadian small business people have been more successful than they expected to be during the last quarter, and are optimistic about the future.

So if you’re thinking of starting a small business, this is a fine time to do it.
